Home Is Where The Heart Is

Updated: May 18

Many Americans spend a lot of time, energy and money on homes. Whether it is an apartment, condo, or large private residence-our habitats capture our imagination in unique ways. While they are a necessity and a blessing they can also be a snare; a way believers can collapse into carnal thinking without realizing the shift.

Although David was a prosperous King, he realized that he was only visiting this planet for a short time. He cries out to God in Psalm 39:12,

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; hold not Your peace at my tears! For I am Your passing guest, a temporary resident, as all my fathers were.”

Abraham was led by God to sojourn in an unfamiliar land. His faith spurred him on.

Hebrews 11:10 says,

For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.”

No matter how comfortable or durable our earthly dwelling, our true abiding home is with the Father. Jesus said He goes to prepare a place for us so where He is we can be also (John 14)!

So be encouraged to invest in your eternal home. Through loving and serving Jesus and helping others you can lay up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21).  May we avail ourselves of God’s grace to invest our lives wisely.
