“…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Thankfulness is usually not our first response when we face difficult circumstances. However, a grateful, trusting heart is one of the keys to abiding joy and victory in our lives.
When Paul and Silas were unjustly stripped and beaten with rods and thrown into jail, they could have easily given into complaining and self pity. (Acts 16) Instead, the Scriptures reveal how they were praising God and praying in the midnight hour.
Imagine these men of God, beaten, humiliated exhausted, whole heartedly praising King Jesus!
Their thanksgiving was interrupted by a strong earthquake that shook the prison and opened all the prison doors. This extraordinary event resulted in the salvation of the prison guard’s entire family.
Even when adverse events close in, God is worthy of praise from a heart filled with gratitude. In Jesus we have eternal hope and a magnificent future. He promises to work all things together for good for those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.(Romans 8:28)
There is an expiration date on every trial and tribulation, but the goodness of our God endures forever! Thank you Father for Jesus and the gift of eternal life I have received through Him alone. Thank you that in the midst of my deepest struggles You are with me, refining me and guiding me. You are good Father and Your mercy endures forever!
